The arrival of leading IP practitioner Christine De Keersmaeker reflects Astrea’s strategy to grow its IP practice and investment in sectors such as media, technology and all other IP driven businesses. Christine is a well-known IP practitioner in the Brussels, Belgian and international scene for many years. She is driven by a real passion for IP and has been convinced of the growing importance of IP value for all businesses before it became obvious. Christine has been repeatedly recognized as an IP expert by legal guides, a.o. in Legal 500 as “a name to note“, in Women in Business Law as a “leading TMT practitioner”, in Media Law International as “having exceptional experience for working with clients from the press, cinema, audiovisual production sector and film” and in Managing Intellectual Property as an “IP Star”. She has served in the Belgian Council for Intellectual Property for almost 16 years and is a third-party decider on Domain name disputes with the Belgian Center for Arbitration and Mediation. Alongside her legal work, Christine is a visiting professor at the Antwerp management School (AMS) in the Master for International Fashion Management as well as its summer school and has been a regular speaker and author on IP topics related to Fashion, TV & film productions, image rights, advertising, social media and new technologies. With this latest move Astrea emphasizes again its ambition to further develop its full service approach focused on different industry specializations, with seasoned lawyers bringing relevant know-how to the client’s table.
