Christine De Keersmaeker is Astrea’s Senior Counsel in IP.

She delivers a broad range of IP services including counselling, rights clearances and acquisitions, strategic advice, drafting and negotiating agreements, IP audits, IP portfolio management and litigation, all with one purpose : to create IP, brand and business value and return on investment. These services involve, amongst others, trademarks, copyrights, neighboring rights, image rights, designs and models, patents, trade secrets and domain names.

Christine has over 30 years of experience in the Media (Music, TV, Film, Advertising), Fashion and Retail, Food ,Household and Beverages sectors, but basically helps Businesses in all sectors as all have intellectual property to take care of. She provides brand owners or owners ‘to be’ with strategic advice with regards to launching their products and services, new business projects and ideas in order to protect and maximize their intellectual property.

Christine has served in the Belgian Council for Intellectual Property for almost 16 years and is a third-party decider on Domain name disputes with the Belgian Center for Arbitration and Mediation. Alongside her legal work, Christine is a visiting professor at the Antwerp management School (AMS) in the Master for International Fashion Management as well as its summer school and has been a regular speaker and author on topics related to IP and Fashion, TV & film, Sports and image rights, advertising, IP & social media, 3D printing and virtual reality.

She has been repeatedly recognized as an IP expert by legal guides : by Legal 500 as “a name to note“, by Women in Business Law as a “leading TMT practitioner”, by Media Law International as “having exceptional experience for working with clients from the press, cinema, audiovisual production sector and film” and by Managing Intellectual Property as an “IP Star”.
